Uxbridge City Guide

Uxbridge offers many additional independent boutiques featuring hand-crafted furniture, clothing, jewelry, and gifts in their downtown area. Residences often frequent the Uxbridge Farmers Market on weekends as well. The fresh produce, meats, and other goods are local to the town providing people with a great experience unique to Uxbridge.

Parks

Uxbridge offers a green experience with an abundance of maintained parks, playgrounds, and conservation areas. Some of Uxbridge’s most popular parks include Elgin Park and Testa Park. Uxbridge is known as the Trail Capital of Canada, providing thousands of hikers, skiers, equestrians, cyclists, and runners with over 220km of seasonally managed trails.

Sports

There are currently no professional sport teams that belong to Uxbridge. Being relatively close to Toronto, residents often cheer for teams such as Raptors, Maple Leafs, and the Blue Jays.

Public Transportation

The main form of transportation in Uxbridge is serviced by Durham Region Transit (DRT). There is also a GO Station in Stouffville, near the Uxbridge border. This station offers train and bus connections to popular areas in Ontario.

Airports

Located approximately 50 minutes away from Uxbridge, residents looking to travel by air will have to visit the Toronto International Pearson Airport (YYZ), the closest and largest international airport in the GTA. Handling over 45 million passengers annually, Pearson is the busiest airport in Canada.

Taxi/Uber

The biggest taxi companies that service Uxbridge includes Uxbridge GQ Taxi, Uxbridge Airport Taxi, and AAA Stouffville Uxbridge Taxi. Because taxis are difficult to hail on the go, it is best to book in advance or visit a train station or hotel where they are usually parked waiting for passengers.

An alternative to hiring a taxi in Uxbridge is Uber. Currently, Uber offers some options in Uxbridge including UberX, UberXL, UberSELECT, and UberBLACK.

The core of Uxbridge’s road transportation includes Highways 47, 23, 1, and 12.
